Limerick Fire Department Assists at Water Rescue

Limerick Fire Department (Station 51) was dispatched at 1238 on July 4th, to assist Upper Providence Township Fire and Emergency Services (Station 68) with a water rescue in the area of Lock 60, in Mont Clare. Marine 51 and Air 51 responded with a crew of 10 personnel. While enroute, units were advised to stage at Station 68C, until requested. Lock 60 Command ordered Station 51 units to the boat launch to assist in the search. Boats 51-1 and 51-2 were launched with personnel to search assigned areas. Additional LFD water rescue personnel were assigned to other boats to conduct shoreline searches in the river and act as safety units for other search units. The Pennsylvania State Police also assisted with a helicopter to the scene. Mongtomery County Department of Public Safety assisted with their drone team. Approximately a dozen water rescue and dive units were dispatched to assist in the search. Aside from Limerick Fire Department boats from Collegeville Fire Company, Phoenixville Fire Department, Friendship Fire Company Diving-Rescue Unit, Jefferson Fire Company, Spring Mill Fire Company, Conshohocken Fire Department, Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department, and Keystone Water Rescue (Boyertown) assisted. Fire police from Phoenixville, Collegeville, Lower Pottsgrove, Trappe, Royersford, and Lower Providence assisted with traffic and crowd control. North Penn Goodwill canteen service as well as The Salvation Army Canteen of Boyertown were dispatched to provide services for all responders on the scene.

Upper Providence Police Department is still investigating the incident.
