Day 2 of Limerick Fire Department's Youth Firefighter Camp brought more fun and excitement for the Cadets. In today's sessions, the Cadets learned about the types of ladders, carrying, raising and lowering of ground ladders, establishing a water supply with a fire hydrant, various attack hoses and nozzles and their use in different fire scenarios. They also learned about tanker and port-a-pond operations for water supply and flash flood awareness and rescue techniques. There were two special guests attending and presenting today as well. They included the Pennsylvania State Police Troop K and the National Fire Sprinkler Assocation (PenJerDel Chapter), who provided their sprinkler trailer for a demonstration with live fire and activation of residential sprinklers.
Limerick Fire Department extends its thanks and appreciation to Perkiomen Township Fire Company (Station 66) and Upper Frederick Fire Company (Station 87) and their crews for assistance and their apparatus to utilize in the program. Make sure to ask you cadets if goldfish swim around in Engine 51.
