Water Rescue Training in Upper Providence

May 23, 2021

This past Sunday, members of our Water Rescue team participated in some water rescue evolutions on the Schuylkill River in Upper Providence Township.  Last year, a Water Rescue Task Force was formed to enhance the preparedness for a response to a rescue call on the river. The task force is comprised of local fire departments that have water rescue teams that would respond to calls in their first due or provide mutual aid. Attending the training were Collegeville Fire Company, Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Company, Phoenixville Fire Department, Township of Upper Providence Fire and Emergency Services, and Friendship Fire Company Diving-Rescue Unit.

As Summertime approaches and the number of people taking to our local waterways to have fun increases, it’s important to remember and exercise safe boating practices. Be sure to wear your PFD and always let someone know where you are going.
