Members Receive Commendation

Thursday, May 20, 2021 several members of the Limerick Fire Department attended the Lower Pottsgrove township meeting to receive a letter of commendation from Bruce Foltz, president of the board of commissioners and Robert Mohollen ,fire committee chairman. The commendation was for services rendered at a trench rescue on April 7, 2021 The trench rescue occurred on Evergreen Road while workers were installing a waterline for a new development in the area. Rescue 51 and Engine 51 responded to the call to assist Sanatoga Fire Company. Also on scene were Pottstown Fire Department and Ringing Hill Fire Company. One construction worker became trapped in a 7 foot trench after unstable soil conditions collapsed while connecting pipes. Crews quickly stabilized the trench, helped remove dirt and extricated him from the trench.
Members accepting the award on behalf of the Limerick Fire Department were Battalion Chief Mike Latshaw, Lieutenant Scott Miles , Lieutenant Rickey Shuler, Lieutenant Tyler Miles and FF Bill Hoffman.
