LFD Assists With Water Rescue in New Hanover

Limerick Fire Department assisted New Hanover with a stranded motorist on Ludwig Rd and Middle Creek Rd. Marine 51 deployed both boats over a half mile down stream from the motorist. Air 51 positioned itself up stream. The Boats were able to make contact with 4 occupied vehicles that were stranded. A total of 9 people were retreaved to safe location using New Hanover's public Works loader with a man basket. While in the location, crews were able to relieve 5 horses by opening the gate from their pasture to their barn by the request of the owner. Also a crew member was able to save a distressed fawn that was land locked and very weak at the time of discovery. The fawn was left in the field where other deer were spotted.
