| Several units were dispatched to a reported building fire at 70 E 3rd Ave in Collegeville on May 24th at 5:59 pm. Callers reported black smoke and crackling sounds coming from the old Collegeville Costume factory, but no visible fire. Collegeville Police and Deputy 34 arrived and confirmed heavy smoke coming from the building's ground floor. Crews arrived and worked to locate and extinguish the fire. The fire was placed under control at 6:22 pm.
As crews were opening windows for ventilation on the second floor, they found a second fire. Local and PA State fire marshals were called to the scene for investigation, and PECO was called to cut power to the building. 322 and Special Service were dispatched to assist with rehab and water, and to fill air cylinders. Units were released shortly thereafter.
