Monday Night Training: Forcible Entry and Search & Rescue

October 13, 2025

For Monday Night Training on October 13, the Limerick crew set up "rooms" in the bay for search and rescue, and the door prop as the entrance to the "house". Crews of four worked to force a door, control it, and make entry into the house. To simulate low visibility, firefighters stuffed wax paper into their masks. A speaker was used to mimic the sounds of fire and a crying child. Crews practiced searching techniques, using their sense of touch and hearing to locate any victims (both live and dummies/dolls). While practicing primary searches, firefighters need to maintain awareness of their location within the building and the specific rooms they are searching. They must also communicate effectively with each other and command, all while managing the adrenaline that comes with the fast-paced nature of the search. To make each search unique, the rooms were changed around, and the victims were placed in different rooms. No two scenarios, both live or practice, are ever the same, so each crew encountered different challenges.
