On the afternoon of May 10, while Limerick Fire Department was at a car fire, Chief 51 was advised by Montgomery County Dispatch of a hazardous materials incident for a leaking tank truck. Rescue 51 was diverted from the car fire and responded with Chief 51. On arrival and after assessment, Chief 51 requested the Montgomery County Hazmat team for assistance. The crew from Rescue 51 began spill containment operations to reduce the product from flowing further into a storm drain. Additional personnel and units from the Department arrived with more booms and pads for spill containment operations. Personnel from the trucking firm also provided additional material. The County Hazmat Team arrived and their crew members plugged the tanks hole and assisted with spill containment operations and checked the local creek for additional exposure. |
