2nd Alarm Structure Fire at Bengal Paper

At 2009 hours, Limerick Fire Department was dispatched for a working structure fire at Bengal Paper Coverting Services, 1155 Main Street, in the Linfield section of Limerick Township. Callers reports of smoke and fire from the roof were confirmed by arriving police and fire officers. The buildings sprinkler system had activated and heavy smoke was present throughout the building. Ladder 51 arrived and quickly set up for roof operations. Engine 51 pulled a line to enter the warehouse and machine shop area. Assistant 51 established command and requested a second alarm dispatch. Ladder 98 and Tower 51 laddered the building and crews assisted with roof ventilation operations. Incoming apparatus and crews were assigned to check for extension throughout the remainder of the facility. A manpower pool was established to rotate firefighting crews working to extinguish and control burning materials. Crews were on location well into the early morning before being released. The Regional Fire Investigation Task Force (RFIT) and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal were called to the scene and the incident is still be investigated.

EMS units from Friendship Fire Company and Trappe Ambulance were on scene providing rehab.
